Our Story

Golden Thread Stories helps people and communities tell their stories through a participatory learning approach and a deep respect for personal voice.  Our feature services are intensive digital storytelling workshops and customized Storybooks for organizations.  We also blog weekly about storytelling and narrative, and invite you to join in the conversation!

Surya Govender is the owner and principle facilitator of Golden Thread Stories.  Surya received her digital storytelling training from the Centre for Digital Storytelling (CDS) in Berkeley, California in November 2007.  She also holds an MSc in urban social geography (1999).  She has been a self-employed writer, facilitator, researcher and evaluation consultant the past eleven years and has used digital storytelling as an evaluation tool alongside more traditional methods for over five of those.  In addition to operating Golden Thread Stories, she currently works part-time at Capilano University in the field of adult education.  For more information, you can download Surya Govender’s CV.
