Workshop Information for Organizations

In Golden Thread Stories workshops, students will produce a one to three minute digital story, using their own words and images.  Storytellers will explore the creative process of story development, record their own first-person narratives, and learn how to combine images, voice and soundtrack into a completed digital story.  All the workshops listed below are designed for 8 to 12 students and include two facilitators to guide the process.  All workshops include the following:

• Student orientation/pre-workshop package
• Software set up
• All workshop materials (preparation & printing)
• Portable audio recording system
• Release and confidentiality forms
• Screening opportunity with the group (2 and 3 day workshops)
• Individual DVDs of completed stories – one for each student and one compilation for the client

The following elements are not included in workshop fees and may be provided by the client:

• Meeting and recording space
• One computer per student
• Technical support for in-house computer system
• Marketing/gathering of students
• Application of stories to client website or other media, as desired
• HST/GST not included

Standard 3-day workshop (24 hours)

Students will complete a three-minute digital story.  A variety of software will be considered for use, depending on the students and client requirements.

Fee: $3400 ($283-$425 per student)

 Standard 2-day workshop (16 hours)

Students will complete a two-minute digital story.  Compared to the three-day workshop, story development time is shortened, software and tutorials are simplified and audio editing tutorials are limited.

Fee: $2300 ($192-$289 per student)

 Standard 1-day workshop (8 hours + screening time)

Students will complete a one-minute digital story.  Students must bring a completed story and development time will be limited to a brief editing process.  Basic software is used and no tutorials on audio editing will be provided.

Alternatively, a one-day workshop can focus on story development, with only audio stories recorded by the end of the session.  Additional visual editing can be done in a later workshop or by facilitators, off-site, for an additional fee.

Fee: $1700 ($142-$213 per student)
